Q. Is there a minimum or maximum number of people for a tea party?
A. There is a minimum of 6 or 10 (for Duchess Francesca and Lady Jane) and a maximum of approximately 25 guests.
Q. Do you provide tea parties for children?
A. Unfortunately no, because our fine collection of vintage china and accessories are not suitable for use by children.
Q. How long does a tea party last?
A. To ensure the safety of food items served to your guests, all tea parties will last for no more than two hours.
Q. Will I be able to take food home from my event?
A. We properly store and transport prepared food safely, however, improper storage and /or temperature maintenance of the food at the event can increase the chance for food-related illness. We will attempt to wrap up any leftover food, however, the Rolling Tea Cart reserves the right to throw away food that we feel is unfit to eat at the conclusion of your event.
Q. What about tea cups, china, cutlery, and glassware?
A. Rolling Tea Cart provides everything you need to have the perfect afternoon tea. We supply the vintage china (tea pots, tea cups/saucers, plates, sugar /creamers) and silverware (luncheon size fork, butter knife, teaspoon), silver tongs, silver condiment spoons, silver three tiered servers, and silver tea strainers. We can also provide water glasses if requested. The menu price includes white linens for the serving and guest tables and Battenburg lace edged napkins for each guest. We can provide rectangular Battenburg lace tablecloths for an additional fee.
Q. Do you provide tables and chairs, etc.?
A. No, we do not provide tables and chairs or set up. Rental companies will set up and take down their equipment as part of their rental fee.
Q. What happens if more people than planned show up at my event?
A. Once the guaranteed guest count is received (three business days before your event), food and supplies are ordered and staff is scheduled based upon that number.
Q. What happens if fewer people than planned show up at my event?
A. Once the guaranteed guest count is received (three business days before your event), food and supplies are ordered and staff is scheduled based upon that number. You have committed to purchase food and supplies for that number of people, and we have incurred the expenses to provide this food and service. We are therefore not able to offer a price adjustment.
Q. What is your policy for alcoholic beverages?
A. Rolling Tea Cart does NOT hold a license to serve alcohol. Clients are welcome to bring their own alcoholic refreshments such as wine or champagne; however, someone from your party needs to be a delegated server.
Q. Can I bring my own cake to the event?
A. Yes, you are welcome to bring a special occasion cake and we will be able to cut and serve it for an additional $1 per plate.
Q. Do you charge sales tax?
A. Yes, we charge sales tax dependent on the location of the event (county) within Ohio. If the client has tax exempt status, we will need a copy of the exemption certificate.
Q. Is the gratuity part of the per person charge?
A. No, we have a 20% gratuity charge for service parties. This is a standard catering industry charge, covering “behind the scenes” overhead costs such as support staff.
Q. Is there a “save the date” charge?
A. Yes, we require a $50 non-refundable fee to reserve a specific date, which will be applied to your final bill.
Q. Is a deposit required?
A. A 20% deposit is required at the signing of the contract. The balance of the bill is due prior to service on the day of the event.
